Hello all you people and potential spammers that read my blog.
I know that you’re all wondering what I am up to. Last year I was really good about putting out daily posts, this year, not so much. Let me give you a run down of what is going on. I am really bouncing all over the place with this story, and while I like the concepts, most of the scenes I have written to date feel like they are kind of boring. I feel like I am getting to the root of the story now, but I am still jumping through the time line like Sliders.
For example, the other day I mentioned an instance that should trigger the characters to believe that the Institution is the safest place they could be. So today I had to go back into their childhood to make that instance happen and push out all of the facts from the perspective of my two main characters. I don’t think it is very good so I am not going to be posting anything just yet.
I will say that I did kill off one of my characters, causing Abigale and Derek to see just how slippery a moral slope can be.
In other news, I am recording an audio book, professionally with my spiffy new microphone. I may have to go back and re record the chapters I had previously done. Between recording and editing this audio, I don’t have much down time to blog, but I will do everything I can to get content out for you wonderful people.
I am a mean author. Here I have this little girl, so smart but so alone and I’ve given her this great friend in an orderly. Now, well… Here I will let you read it for yourself. Continue reading
So today, I decided to give Abigale some relief. She needed someone who would make her feel a little more comfortable in her new home. The person who did that for me for every move that I made as a child was my mother. So I named this orderly after her. His name is Gerry.
Now I also brought a little bit more of me into this story by giving them something to do after dinner. I love puzzles. I used to do them with my great grandmother all the time before she passed away. This was a nice little way to honor her and my mother and my grandmother who collects buttons. Continue reading
I am a very bad blogger. I kept you all in the dark yesterday as to where I had gotten for my writing. Well, I found out that this year, with no specific plot, my mind is jumping around on the timeline of this story. I’m not entirely sure where the characters are taking me, but we found out that Abigale is not alone in her abilities. She meets one other person like her, Derek. Here’s a bit of what I wrote yesterday. Continue reading
Hello friends and welcome to the 2013 edition of Laura’s NaNoWriMo posts.
So this year I had inspiration for a story based on something I heard on NPR. Yes I listen to that fabulous programming and I think everyone should at least give it a shot. Continue reading
