Hello my friends and followers,
It has been quite a long time since I have been on, but thanks to the wonders of having the internet again and all that jazz, I can once again post to you all and let you know how my crazy world is going.
I have finished my move and am settling in nicely to my new life, job, etc. Did I mention I got engaged and handfasted while I was away? Oh well, yea that happened.
What can you all expect from me now that I am back online. For one thing, if you aren’t listening to “The Galley Table” from Flying Island Press, you should. I have made my triumphant return to the show and this evening the guys helped me to hash out what I need in order to prepare for NaNoWriMo.
In addition, I also have a story I am writing for the end of this month. I can’t tell you all too much, but it takes place after the earth went through several catastrophes. Technology is outlawed and seen as evil. Magic once again reigns. And a young woman has to protect her family from those who would try to destroy it.
“Why aren’t you recording?” you might be asking. In my last residence there was a great deal of carpet and other ways to absorb ambient noise. This house is covered in hardwood, and while easy to clean, it doesn’t do much for recording. Don’t worry. I have plans to make a sound booth so that I can start putting out my vocal goodness again.
In other news, I have been playing with the SCA for the last couple of years now, and have been honing my skills as a bard. Two weekends ago I won my first bardic competition and I can now say I am a Baronial Bard. Granted that Barony is in RI, but I have a few friends that live out that way as well.
That’s all for me at this point. Check back in next week, when hopefully I will remember to write to you all again.

If you all have been keeping track of my Twitter feed, you’ll notice that I have a lot of posts about moving. It is a very long and tiring process and thankfully I am going to be living with another person who does audio recordings. Perhaps he will let me share his recording space, otherwise I will be recording in the car again.
Post Balticon, I am now plotting new cases for Beatrix Stonebriar. Once I get my casefiles and research materials unpacked (I have marked where they are), it will be time for documentation.
Be good to each other and keep on dreaming.

Alrighty kids. I know you are all frothing at the bit to hear more about Stargazers, Absolution and the like. Let me just say, Absolution is a beast that I am taming slowly but surely with the help of Ayoub Khote and David Sobkowiak. We are working really hard to get it done but part of that requires me to record. (Bad Laura. Bad)
As to Stargazers, I realize I have been neglecting the story and its characters, so I am handing over the reigns to the woman who has lovingly helped me create the world, Gwendolyn Jensen-Woodard. I don’t know how she works on all the shows that she does at the same time, but she does it with style!
Other than that I have been actively being crafty and working on getting a job down in Massachusetts so I can move down there. As we all know the job market is crap right now, so it is really difficult for me to get out of the customer service field. If anyone has any leads, let me know. I have, however, started working on making things like those tiny top hats for ladies, and I have to say, I am excited by the product. I will post pictures later, but what do you think some one would pay for a custom made mini top hat?
That’s all of my random thoughts for now.

Well it is that time of year again when us writer types get all crazy, forget that we have lives and write like the mad creative geniuses that we are. For me, getting started has been a challenge because of a great social life, recovering from surgery (had my tonsils taken out) and getting back into the swing of things at work. However I plan to get stuff done, just not sure how I would do it without the Write or Die app that I recently purchased. Thank you portable technology.
So let’s see… Pandora is up, Write or Die is up, I have caffeine, social media is off. I think I am ready.

I promise, I have been working on stuff, just more writing than recording or mixing. However, now there is stuff for me to talk about with regards to my writing.
Several months ago I was given a writing prompt. Write a story with a character that has a degree of autism. This is exactly what I did. I like CSI and love fairies, so I mixed the two and got my submission in the Autism issue titled “Stonebriar Casefile: 182 – Bad Alchemy”. You can find the story and several others at the follow website: http://flyingislandpress.com/autism. I am very happy with this story and will be writing more about Trixie the Pixie in this year’s NaNoWriMo challenge. If you have a couple of dollars to spare and like a wide variety of fiction download the issue and support a good cause.
In other news I am continuing to write articles for Flying Island Press for Flagship. The Please Spay Your Tribbles column continues to bring in good numbers (thank you all for that) and gives me the push I need to keep them coming. Now if only I had the time to start up Absolution again. I will be having some time off and hopefully will be able to get a good deal of mixing in during that time.
That’s all the news I have for right now, so keep reading and thank you for your continued support.
Woot! If you haven’t seen on my Twitter or Facebook pages, I got to 50,000 Words last Sunday! WOO HOO! I’m still not finished with the story, but given a couple more writing days and I should get there. Once I have gone through and edited it a couple of times I will be looking for Beta readers to help me out and decide if I want to podcast it or attempt to get it published or both.
If I do decide to podcast I will probably make it into an audio drama rather than a podcast novel, but we will see. Congrats to all my fellow NaNo winners and a Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends. I’m off to make some Harvest Soup for my family gathering.

I am looking at the top searches of that bring people to my site and have found that by far my most popular post has been the one about King Richard’s Faire. I have people searching for “Jacques the Whipper”, “The Lady of the Glen”, “Ren Faire Woman” and so on. I have to wonder if people are using my image or costume as inspiration for their stories or costumes. If you are, please let me know. That would be pretty cool to hear about.
Alright you rabid readers. Sometimes I need a break from writing (usually because I’m stuck), and I have to listen to or read something else. So here is my offering incase someone else can benefit from it. Read the rest of this entry »
