Tomorrow I head into the studio to get started recording Stonebriar Casefiles – Bad Alchemy. I’m very excited to work with Michael Stokes of Cool Audio Productions to put the podcast novel together. Soon, (hopefully within 2 weeks) I will be able to start releasing Continue reading →
I am entering into the second scariest part of getting your own work ready for release, which is editing. All I want to do is just throw Stonebriar Casefiles to someone else to make the decisions because I just can’t as I am incredibly attached to the story. But at the same time, I am very excited to get someone else’s take on how to improve my story so that it is read properly and received well.
The hardest part is to know that I can reject some of the edits. I think the biggest bump I have come up against is the uses of the word magic and magick. I am making that distinction as magic is the action or descriptor; I am casting a magic spell or the place looks magical. Magick I am using as a noun. So the races of magical beings are called Magicks and Magick itself as an entity would be spelled this way. I am still a bit of a novice in regards to magical terms, so if I am getting these backwards, please let me know so I can make it right.
Once the book is edited and reviewed, I’m going to start recording and producing each chapter in audio. The goal is to have 10 episodes released ahead of Balticon, where I will release the actual book.
As I am working on the audio production, I am also going to be looking into getting the layout correct for a physical book and e-book. I am hoping to lean on some of my friends in the business for direction. The more I can do myself, the happier I will be, as I know that these skills will be useful going forward.
I hope you all are as excited for this book as I am.
One of the hardest things to do is start something. Whether it is recording, editing, writing, cleaning, there is just so much effort in rolling up your sleeves and taking the first steps to getting it done. So what do you do?
I sat down with Tek of Nutty Bites who has some exciting news about a new podcast with regards to his journey through akido called Upside Down and Flying. This is a show I’m looking forward to listening to.
