Do you hear that music of impending doom? I know there was this whole thing about the end of the world today and therefore I must post to my website… because I am a bad blogger and have been neglecting you, my somehow interested audience. Thank you so much for sticking it out with me. Read the rest of this entry »
Hello my frequent visitors and friends,
Well it is 2011 and I hope you all had a wonderful and safe holiday. Mine was filled with a lot of laughter, great food, great people (thanks Val and Bri), and (I will admit) a little bit of alcohol. So everyone makes resolutions for the new year… and few stick to them. As for me I make goals. Sometimes I reach them and sometimes I don’t. Last year my goal was to finish the novella “Prisoners of the Alliance” with my partner in crime, David Sobkowiak. We succeeded and I also finished the first draft of another novel, which was pretty damn cool. It makes me think that a lot more things are possible having made those goals and I am very grateful for the people who supported me and challenged me all the way. I always did love a good competition (thanks Brand). Read the rest of this entry »

Towards the end of NaNoWriMo I was talking with my hair dresser about the project that I was writing. Then she asked, “How do you write?” This is a very, VERY vague question, I know but it got me thinking, ‘hmm, that might be an excellent blog post.’ I know that post NANO I have been a horrible blogger and have left you, my frequent (though rather silent) readers with nothing new to consume. So let’s discuss my methods.

Woot! If you haven’t seen on my Twitter or Facebook pages, I got to 50,000 Words last Sunday! WOO HOO! I’m still not finished with the story, but given a couple more writing days and I should get there. Once I have gone through and edited it a couple of times I will be looking for Beta readers to help me out and decide if I want to podcast it or attempt to get it published or both.
If I do decide to podcast I will probably make it into an audio drama rather than a podcast novel, but we will see. Congrats to all my fellow NaNo winners and a Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends. I’m off to make some Harvest Soup for my family gathering.

I am looking at the top searches of that bring people to my site and have found that by far my most popular post has been the one about King Richard’s Faire. I have people searching for “Jacques the Whipper”, “The Lady of the Glen”, “Ren Faire Woman” and so on. I have to wonder if people are using my image or costume as inspiration for their stories or costumes. If you are, please let me know. That would be pretty cool to hear about.

Halfway through my first NaNoWriMo and let me tell you, I am tired. This is the start of week 3 and I am at 65% as you can see on my lovely progress meter. As far as the story goes, I have had a thought on the ending and am no longer sure if it will end the same way as I planned. Read the rest of this entry »

Last night I had my first bout of nano-insomnia. I had been trying to sleep for 2 hours, and still just couldn’t get there even after taking my pain medication. Ugh. So there was nothing left for it. I surrendered to the muses and come downstairs to the freezing cold basement and began to write out the scene that I have been trying to build up to for the past two days. First of all I would like to take a moment to thank SVAllie of www.getfoundconsulting.com for assisting me with updating my side for NaNoWriMo. She really stepped up when I needed help, because while I am comfortable putting up posts, I am still a novice when it comes to websites.
I have made my playlists for writing particular scenes. The reason I do this is that when I am driving I get certain scenes of my story in my head and I am trying to harness that imaginative power for when I am putting my thoughts down into my new Windows version of Scrivener. I am loving it! It is definately very helpful, though I still have my research books and what not for the information that I need.
If you happen to be in the NH area… well let’s not make this exclusive… If you happen to be online and want to see what I am up to as far as NaNo or any other project I am doing goes, follow me on Twitter @LN_DragonSong (Which is also my NaNo name).
Now then, the house is cleaned, I have done my yoga, laundry is done and put away. I’m going to bed early so that I can get started, bright and early tomorrow. I wish luck to all of my fellow participants. And remember, if you get stuck in a plot, it’s time for a fight/sex scene, the legions of hell to arrive, or a velociraptor.
PS Happy Halloween
