If you all have been keeping track of my Twitter feed, you’ll notice that I have a lot of posts about moving. It is a very long and tiring process and thankfully I am going to be living with another person who does audio recordings. Perhaps he will let me share his recording space, otherwise I will be recording in the car again.

Post Balticon, I am now plotting new cases for Beatrix Stonebriar. Once I get my casefiles and research materials unpacked (I have marked where they are), it will be time for documentation.

Be good to each other and keep on dreaming.

After a fantastic weekend seeing old and meeting new faces, and a very long, scenic drive, I have made it home.

To reflect on this weekend is to be reminded of how wonderful this international family truly is. It is unfortunate that I can only get together with this group once a year.  My friend Valerie Griswold – Ford and I are working with other friends in the New England/Eastern Canada area to do a NoreasterCon. Personally, I’d like to do it as a “lets create something amazing this weekend, record it and post it as soon as possible” event. All the panels that I wanted to go to I didn’t end up getting to go to due to my own schedule, and just being worn out.

I also got to sell my own publication of Stonebriar Casefile: 182, Bad Alchemy. It is the story of Beatrix Stonebriar and how she uses her fae magic to assist in solving crimes through the CSI department. I still have CD’s for sale at $5. If you are interested, please email me at LNicole at FlyingIslandPress dot com. I have also been asked to create more cases for Trixie the Pixie (she’s gonna hate me for calling her that) so I guess that means that it is time for me to do some research.

The Stargazers Live Audio Drama went beautifully, even if I didn’t get to use the background SFX that I had worked on. I got live foley from Keith R. A. DeCandido instead and it was amazing. Thanks to Keith, M. Sieiro Garcia, Bryan Lincoln, Encaf1, Veronica Giguerre, P.G. Holyfield, Doc Coleman, Scott Roche, Starla Huchton, Tim Dodge, Val Griswold-Ford, Dee Reed, and Kim the Comic Book Goddess for bringing the story to life. Paulette Jaxton and Nuchtchas were supposed to be voices as well, but they had other things come up.

Also, it was my boyfriend’s first con. Everyone was great to him and he had a fantastic time! He will come back next year as will my father and his family.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I know I did. I just chose sleep over after parties. Thanks for the memories and let’s do it again next year.

Last week I posted a new PSYT on Flying Island Press. If you haven’t heard it yet, you might want to do so. In it I talked about the need to disconnect from the interwebs, the phones, everything… It’s good for the psyche. And during the recording of said episode, I had a thought. Why not make people find you through a scavenger hunt.

During the weekend I will give hints on Twitter @LN_Dragonsong to find where I am hanging out.  The hunt itself has some pretty awesome prizes and I would like to thank my friends in the Science Fiction Collective for sponsoring this game.  I will have printed out copies of these rules at Balticon, but they stand as follows.

I am posting to you all from Maryland where I am attending Balticon! I am so excited to be here and to meet some of these great people that I have been chatting with on Twitter and listening to their audio books. Kinda bummed out right now because apparently I am missing some fun according to the Twitter feed, but I am in some more than minor pain and need to get that taken care of before I can truly go and enjoy myself. So as I am sitting in Cobbler’s pose to help stretch the muscles allow me to commence with more self promotion, cause that’s why you’re here… to see what I’m up to. Read the rest of this entry »

Hiya people in Internet land,

Well after an amazing writing session last night, Prisoners of the Alliance is right on schedule for release in the first or second week of April. The deciding factor will be how quickly we can record and mix each episode. I can tell you that we already have one in the can and several others waiting to be mixed.

I have recently been very sick, which has prevented me from recording. However, I am finally on the mend. I did attempt recording this morning, but that was ruined half way through when a family member decided at 7 am was the perfect time to start the laundry. *Sigh* Well, my husband is going to give me a couple of hours to record tonight and tomorrow so that should help. Otherwise I will just have to get up really early to get recording.

In other news… I’m getting a second dog. She is a little yorkie/chihuahua mix that we have named Aria. She is only about 5 pound and will hopefully get along well with our dog Parker. I seriously recommend getting a dog from a shelter. For 1 they are usually cheaper with all vet procedures and costs taken care of. Secondly, they are very deserving animals, either coming from homes who couldn’t keep them, or from people who didn’t love them. Aria was a stray that the shelter found on their doorstep one morning. Now this little girl is incredibly cute. 12.5 on the cuteness scale. I don’t know how anyone could have abandoned her. So anyway, one of the best places to look for shelter dogs is www.petfinder.com and I totally recommend it.

So that was my public service announcement of the day.

The other countdown I have going is for BALTICON! Yes I am making the 8 hour drive *9 hours if you include the stops* to Maryland to go to my first con ever! There are only 68 days left and as it gets closer I am getting more and more nervous and excited. First of all it will be the first time I meet my co-author, David Sobkowiak face to face. It will be weird to actually see him, since we usually chat through IM or txt messaging… or Twitter if you all follow us ( @ln_dragonsong, @dsobkowiak ). Secondly I am going to meet some of the other podio novelists that I have become a fan of in recent months. I might even get a little star struck. If you’re going to be there, let me know. We can meet and chat and … well I don’t know what happens at a con really, but I’m sure there will be plenty of fun to be had.

Alright I suppose that about does it for me today, have to get back to work. Post a comment or e-mail me if you have questions you want me to address in my own weird, spastic way!
